Campaigns to Help our Neighbors in Need
Warm winter to Mongolians.
Mongolia, where more than two-thirds of the year is winter, from October to April.
There are nomadic people who risk their lives during the winter.
Mongolian nomads who are afraid of winter coming.
Ulaanbaatar, the coldest city in the world, where the cold of -40 degrees continues.
When the cold weather comes, when even livestock freeze and die, the nomads living in the ger will die in fear.
In the city of Ulaanbaatar, 60% of low-income families come from the countryside to make money. Due to economic poverty, they live in the ger villages and do not have electricity and water facilities. Therefore, there is no other heating device other than heating only through the furnace.
A poor life threatened by the cold!
Furnaces are mainly located in the center of the ger and are the only way to warm the house. As for heating, coal, which is relatively inexpensive, is used.
Usually, a household needs at least 20 sacks (50,000 won) of heating coal for winter.
However, for those who have no place to work right away and have no food available, there is no way to escape the cold. In severe cases, extreme colds can lead to death.
They burn waste tires in the house to live.
Nomads endure and eventually burn discarded wood, waste furniture, waste tires, garbage, and everything they can burn in order to survive.
Those who are exposed to the pollutants that result from this can also die from various diseases. Mongolia currently suffers from severe air pollution. In particular, Ulaanbaatar is a city with the most serious air pollution in the world. In the winter months, from October to April, the city is full of smoke from the heat off. As a result, 4,000 citizens of Ulaanbaatar each year suffer from respiratory, cardiovascular, and nervous system disorders caused by air pollution and die prematurely.
Heating expenses support is the only way for them to live.
This year, the cold weather and Corona 19 are making it harder for them to get through the winter. Nomads grab their hungry stomachs and close their eyes in the cold. The only way they can make a basic living and be guaranteed in winter is to provide heating support.
Heating expenses will be provided to 100 families in the Ger village in Songinkhairkhan, where the poorest in Ulaanbaatar live most.
